Shenchao Introduction: The cross-chain landscape of Ethereum DeFi's core pillar is witnessing a historic breakthrough. On October 29, Curve Finance announced the official completion of its deployment on the Stellar mainnet, marking the first time this decentralized exchange, with a total value locked of 1.27 billion USD, has stepped out of the native comfort zone of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
Currently, the core trading module StableSwap is fully open, and users can create pools and swap assets without permission. Curve founder Michael Egorov explicitly pointed out that this leap beyond the EVM boundary is mainly driven by institutional-grade compliance needs, and relies on Stellar's unique advantages in cross-border payments and foreign exchange settlement.
With the planned entry of the foreign exchange market-making tool FXSwap, Curve is bringing low-slippage capital efficiency into the multi-trillion-dollar foreign exchange trading market. This not only injects top-tier automated market-making liquidity into Stellar, but also opens up entirely new possibilities for the entire decentralized finance sector to move toward traditional institutional clearing.
Saying Goodbye to the Constraints of a Single Ecosystem: Taking Root Natively in a Non-EVM Architecture for the First Time
According to a report disclosed by The Block, DeFi's leading automated market maker Curve Finance and the Stellar Development Foundation jointly announced that the protocol code has officially completed native deployment on the Stellar mainnet and is now in operation.
This launch is a milestone in Curve's development history. Since its inception in 2020, Curve's multi-chain expansion has always closely revolved around EVM-compatible chains, while Stellar is its first non-EVM native environment since its founding, demonstrating a major leap in the underlying technical architecture.
As the first core component, the StableSwap engine is fully ready on the Stellar mainnet. Users and developers worldwide can, without permission, independently create asset liquidity pools, execute extremely low-slippage token swaps, and capture network trading fee revenue through their market-making share.
Institutional Demand Forces a Breakthrough: Stellar Captures the Compliance Payment Dividend
When discussing why he chose to break years of convention and enter the non-EVM camp, Curve founder Michael Egorov said bluntly that this strategic decision largely stems from the strong demands of traditional financial institutions, as institutional capital urgently hopes to use Curve's algorithms on more compliant and low-fee public chains.
Michael Egorov also pointed out that although Stellar's underlying layer adopts a customized decentralized consensus and smart contract architecture, its logical experience is highly close to existing EVM habits, greatly reducing the migration and adaptation threshold for market makers, liquidity providers, and arbitrage institutions.
For a long time, Stellar has focused deeply on cross-border micro-remittances, fiat currency channel anchoring, and compliant asset tokenization. Curve's entry not only fills the structural shortcoming of the network's lack of native deep liquidity, but also paves the way for the large-scale operation of on-chain institutional-grade capital pools.
FXSwap Ready to Launch: The Trillion-Dollar Blue Ocean of On-Chain Foreign Exchange Market Making
After the solid landing of StableSwap, the Curve team has set its sights on a more disruptive business line. The official announcement disclosed that after completing the next stage of rigorous security audits, FXSwap, a foreign exchange market-making protocol optimized for fiat asset swaps, will officially launch on the network.
Although the team has not yet announced a specific activation timetable for FXSwap, its strategic intent is already very clear. The Stellar network naturally accumulates diverse fiat-pegged tokens issued by global financial institutions, providing abundant trading pairs for seamlessly conducting on-chain peer-to-peer foreign exchange transactions.
Compared with the high bank spreads and limited business hours of traditional foreign exchange trading, on-chain foreign exchange swaps driven by mathematical curves have the advantages of 24/7 operation and near-zero slippage. The combination of FXSwap and Stellar is expected to set a new industry benchmark for on-chain foreign exchange clearing.
TVL Stabilizes at 1.27 Billion USD: The Second Growth Curve of a Veteran DeFi Leader
As a cornerstone of decentralized finance that has weathered multiple bull and bear cycles, Curve still maintains extremely high industry dominance. Authoritative tracking data from DeFiLlama shows that the protocol's total value locked (TVL) across multiple mainstream public chains worldwide remains stable at approximately 1.27 billion USD.
After experiencing the previous founder's lending liquidation crisis and hacker incidents, the Curve team has not stopped its pace of self-iteration. From building its own decentralized stablecoin crvUSD to actively embracing the non-EVM system this time, the protocol is demonstrating strong strategic resilience and self-driven evolutionary capability.
As liquidity involution within the Ethereum L2 ecosystem intensifies, breaking out of stock competition and pushing into non-EVM institutional territory has undoubtedly become an important path for veteran DeFi to seek incremental growth. As more external application protocols and market makers join, Curve's multi-chain extension is bound to enter a new expansion cycle.
